One Piece Episode 1090: Luffy Arrives On Egghead Island, And A Woman Named Dr Vegapunk Appears

One Piece episode 1090, titled A New Island! Future Island Egghead, was released on January 14, 2024. This episode follows the Straw Hats' journey to their next destination. However, this new island poses a threat to them, and it is not just due to the monster that attempted to devour them in the last episode.

In the previous episode, viewers also witnessed the formidable power of the World Government, capable of obliterating an entire island within moments. This level of destruction surpasses that of a Buster Call, previously considered one of the most devastating events, where almost every living being and object on a designated island would be incinerated.

Following the World Government's assault, the sea remained tumultuous for several days, during which the Straw Hats came across Jewelry Bonney.

In One Piece episode 1090, the Straw Hat crew narrowly escaped from the jaws of a massive metallic shark. Meanwhile, Luffy, Chopper, and Bonney, who were Devil Fruit users, had fallen into the water and were drowning. Jinbe, after requesting Franky to steer the Thousand Sunny, dove in to rescue them.

However, upon resurfacing with them, he found the ship missing. This was due to the torpedoes that the shark had launched to capsize the ship and throw everyone into the water. The shark then launched missiles at Jinbe, forcing him to dive underwater in order to avoid them.

Helmeppo wants to save Koby

At Naval Branch G-14, Naval HQ Captain Tashigi was shown caring for the children who had been rescued from Punk Hazard, where they had been abducted and experimented on by Caesar Clown. Each child was given a cup of medicine that was apparently awful in taste, but they consumed it for Tashigi's sake.

Some children, such as Mocha, were already showing positive effects of the medicine, as they had reduced in size and were keen to return to their normal state and go back home. Vice Admiral Doll approached Tashigi and inquired whether anything could be done about Helmeppo. Tashigi said that she would not be able to help in this matter since Helmeppo was concerned about Koby, who had gone missing.

One Piece episode 1090 then shifted to Helmeppo and Hibari pleading with Prince to accompany them to Pirate Island to help in Koby's rescue. However, Prince refused as the island was Blackbeard's stronghold. Helmeppo proposed using the Seraphim, but Prince dismissed the idea. The absence of Drake further complicated the situation, leaving them with no choice but to wait.

Luffy’s group finds a refuge

One Piece episode 1090 then shifted its focus back to Luffy’s group. Bonney became annoyed when she realized Luffy did not recognize her, despite the fact that she was a member of the Worst Generation.

She was astonished to learn that Luffy was a Yonko, and she was further confused by his wanted poster, which depicted him with white hair. Luffy then explained to her that he looks like that when he is free. Jinbe learned from Bonney that she was on a solo journey when the mecha-shark swallowed her ship. Soon after, Bonney, Luffy, and Chopper began to feel hungry.

While Luffy and Chopper wanted to look for a restaurant, Bonney angrily told them that there was no such facility on the island, which was under the World Government’s control. The island was called Egghead. It was revealed in One Piece episode 1090, Egghead is renowned for housing Dr. Vegapunk's laboratory and is thought to be 500 years ahead of its time in terms of technology. Bonney had some serious business with him.

A figure comes to the rescue

While the Straw Hat crew and Thousand Sunny were sinking and open being attacked by the shark, a robot suddenly appeared. This robot not only scared off the shark but also helped the Straw Hats return to the surface.

In One Piece episode 1090, a woman was shown emerging from this robot while expressing her frustration over her failure to program the shark to merely scout, report, and attack any sighted ship. She was concerned that if the shark consumed them, the valuables would be lost. It was clarified that her intention was not to save pirates. The episode came to an end with the woman revealing herself as Dr. Vegapunk, the genius scientist employed by the World Government.

In the previous episode, Robin reminded the crew that they needed to find the final Road Ponegliff. Meanwhile, the Marines tracked Sabo's call to the Kamabakka Kingdom. He was discovered to be in the Kingdom of Lulusia, where there had recently been a revolution against King Seki and Princess Comane.

Sabo informed the Revolutionary Army that he did not assassinate King Cobra and that he had some secret information regarding the Empty Throne at Marijoa, but the call was cut off unexpectedly. Meanwhile, clouds formed over Lulusia, and descending pillars of light wiped the island off the face of the earth.

A few days later, the Thousand Sunny was seen navigating through severe weather conditions. It encountered a warm Eddy with Jewelry Bonney trapped inside it. Luffy tried to rescue both Bonney and Chopper, who had also been swept up in the current. In the meantime, a huge creature tried to devour the Thousand Sunny.
